Darek and his friends have rescued their fathers, but only to find that their village is now ruled by Zarnak, a power-hungry tyrant. Zarnak blackmails Darek and his friends into leading an invasion of Krad. Azzon, a onetime king of Krad, and the Zynots join with Darek to overthrow Zarnak.
