This extended essay investigates the research question, “To what extent has the provision of scholarship programs in an international school in East Jakarta been a positive externality to the scholars, the community, and the school”.

Positive externalities of consumption occur when the actions of consumers provide external benefits on to third parties. The consumption of education provides the same effect, yet it is often underprovided and hence, underconsumed in an economy resulting in market failure.
