Falsely accused of treason, Edmund Dante, our hero, is arrested on his wedding day. He is then imprisoned in the island fortress of the Chateau d'if. Here he meets Abbe Faria and fortune starts favouring him. He escapes from prison and finds the treasure of Monte Cristo. After that he catches up with his enemies.
