This extended essay evaluates the extent to which Jakarta can alleviate its slums. The essay will evaluate the past strategies and measure their effectiveness in alleviating slums. This is done by measuring their faults and benefits to alleviate slums and through data analysis. It will also discuss the problems and improvements in the new strategy, kampong susun. The main purpose for this analysis is to look at what works, what does not and how can some of these strategies be improved.
