In Malaysian and Singapore, the Chinese diaspora have been greatly accepted, and cultural diffusion through globalization has been significant. From the language, the traditions as well as the economic and political parts of society, the Chinese culture is greatly integrated and preserved. However, this has not happened in Indonesia. Discrimination and oppression have slowed down the diffusion of the Chinese-Indonesian society considerably. Until today, evidence of the Chinese-Indonesians' impact on the Indonesian society seems to have been minimal. This led to the research question, "Has the Chinese diaspora made a significant impact on the development of Indonesia?
