Rain forests are home to most of the world's plant and animal species. We depend on rain forests to provide us with oxygen and rare medicines. Yet deforestation is rapidly killing the rain forests. At the present rate, they will all be gone by the early 21st century. We must halt lumbering, mining, damming, and road building if the rain forests are to survive.
