The three things that Mrs. Cockle's cat, Peter, loves most in the world are sitting in the sun on the roof, Mrs. Cockle's company... and fresh fish for tea. One summer when the weather is bad, Peter is cross and miserable from staying indoors, but what's worse is that there's no fresh fish. The weather is so bad that the fishermen can't take their boats out to sea. Finally Peter can stand it no longer and has to do something about the lack of fish... and poor old Mrs. Cockle is left all alone.
