When American force land on the island in a matter of days becomes a protracted battle with entrenched Japanese infantrymen. Braving their way through the deadly Japanese gunfire, U.S. marines make their way to mount suribachi where they plant the Stars and Stripes. Then, 60,000 Americans march through to island pushing back the Japanese who are willing to fight to the death. For each square foot, Iwo Jima becomes the bloodiest battleground of World War II.
